This latest design I have almost perfected is a combination of a Girder fork link type design with the girders uprights simply replaced with the bikes original set of telescopic forks.....hence it is able to fit onto the bikes standard steering head with little modification and so is a simple bolt on upgrade.
The great thing about it is that it is neat and fits within the normal accepted lines of a offroad bike....from a distance it is hard to tell it is different.
Overall suspension travel is 370mm......300mm for the telefork and 70mm for the girder type link.
What this brings to steered front suspension has not been done before on a offroad motorcycle.
The two suspensions are working in series with their own springs and damper and so offer a level of suspension setup choice and capability not previously possible.
The two suspensions also each give the wheel their own wheelpath....the wheelpath of the telefork and the wheelpath of the Girder link....the telefork is more vertical in its wheelpath where as the Girder link gives a more backwards wheelpath....together these give a wide range of wheel movement within which the wheel can move in response to a wider range of bump force vectors etc.
The result is a superb level of overall suspension compliance.
The fork is mounted at a steeper angle than the steering axis...hence you get a increase in wheel offset and hence a greater reduction of trail through fork travel.
The girder fork by design moves the wheel independently of the steering axis....because it moves the wheel more rearwards you get a reduction of wheel offset and so a increase in trail......the way the two suspensions are setup means that trail can vary to a much wider extent...more trail when needed and less trail when needed....the rider has greater control of the steering by his inputs into the bike.
What you are witnessing is a new stage in offroad motorcycle front suspension and steering design and performance.
