[2 Stroke] How re-curve transfers ?

Hello, my name is Anders and this is my first post on the forum.

My main interest is snowmobiles, my last project was a 1425 triple turbo with efi.

I have read the three threads: [GP125] All that you wanted to know on Aprilia RSA 125, and more, by Mr. Jan Thiel and Mr. Frits Overmars.

I would like to re-curve the transfers in three cylinders by applying plastic and also grinding in the aluminium. What I'm thinking is. How do you apply plastic in the transfers and get the right angles?

Hi Libbresse,

Due to my experience in industry, I advise you to use welding to add material and EDM(Electro Descharging Machining) to strip (wrench or remove) material.

The other possibility is to use EDM to make a slot for a new insert containing the new form on transfert :

it's easier to use aluminium-epoxy such as Loctite(Hysol) or Devcon

Stephane: Yes that's what I was thinking about. My question is how do you apply the epoxy in the transfers ?

Just pour it in the channels and then grind to the right curve. Or use a mold too get the right form instantly ?

Since it's 3 cylinders i would hope for the later lol!

Hi Libbresse,

You're right, it' easier to do it with epoxy. My proposition needs to find a supplier using theses machines.

But you can only reduce the section of the transfers with resin. Don't you have to increase transfers'sections ?

I will do both. The transfers is poorly aimed. So will recurve with resin and also remove material in the 'right' places.
