[Road Racing] TT 2015

Coup de tonnerre : Michael Dunlop quitte le team SMR



Il était déjà mécontent des performances de la nouvelle Yamaha R1 au NW200, et il lui a suffi de trois tours sur cette moto (meilleur tour à un peu plus de 124mph) pour se rendre compte qu'il serait impossible de la rendre compétitive.

De surcroît, des remontées d'huile dans la boîte à air ont été observées aussi bien sur sa moto que sur la machine de Dean Harrison (Mar-Train) et personne ne semble avoir trouvé de solution à ce phénomène, qui apparaît lorsque les motos restent à pleine charge longtemps.

Du coup, il quitte le team Milwaukee SMR et trouve refuge chez Buildbase (Stuart Hicken) sur une BMW.
Il pilotera en superstock sa propre BMW et en supersport une Honda CBR600.

13 eme temps a 35 s de Bruce Anstey, une demie-seconde au km,c'est sur que ca n'allait pas le faire longtemps.

Ah oui en effet ca fume comme un 2 temps .......

Il me semble qu'il y a quelques annees il avais change de marque de pneu pendant les essais.

Si il change d'avis comme de chemise, il y a sûrement de l'argent à faire dans ce commerce.

Marco, je ne pense pas qu'il change d'avis pour l'argent, il veut une moto pour la gagne tout simplement. C'est un mec simple, qui fait sa mecanique lui meme, lave le motor home en plein padock.

Je pense que c'était une blague sur les chemises, jeff64, pas sur une quête du fric par Le sieur Dunlop

Bonne nouvelle pour Michael, il sauve son TT 2015 et se retrouve sur une moto qu'il connait déjà.
Garde t-il sa yamaha en twinlight comme à la NW200 ?

Il a ptet pas envie de se prendre le moteur dans les dents à 300
et de risquer sa vie sachant qu'il n'a aucune chance ne serais-ce que de jouer le podium ...

Tu as raison Emi', mais très franchement, je pense surtout que la moto est "moins rapide" parce qu'il n'est pas en confiance avec ces soucis mécaniques. Ça se comprend très bien et on ne peut pas lui jeter la pierre. La moto n'est pas forcément intrinsèquement moins performante qu'une BMW...

Et quand même, il ne faut pas oublier que le TT est LA principale source de revenus de l'année pour Michael. Si il passe au travers du superbike et du senior, le manque à gagner potentiel est conséquent.

Donc, fierté plus intérêt financier plus inquiétudes sur la fiabilité de la moto, tout concourait à ce qu'il prenne cette décision, une fois évident que la moto ne lui permettrait pas de lutter pour la victoire dans les deux catégories principales.

Cela étant, il ne lui reste plus que deux séances d'essais pour mettre au point la BMW et, même s'il connaît cette machine par coeur, ça va être chaud !

La principale victime est quand même le team de Shaun Muir et ses sponsors et partenaires, parce que le recrutement de Michael Dunlop avait été annoncé avec des ambitions de victoire, et le renoncement de Dunlop est un désaveu public et un camouflet.

Heureusement que, par ailleurs, la R1 a magnifiquement réussi son entrée en compétitions sur les short circuits du monde entier.

Et en plus il a failli s'en coller une bonne avec Ian Hutchinson aux essais :



   

Vous observerez d'ailleurs qu'il ne parvient absolument pas à rester dans la roue de Hutchy...

Pour le moment, ce n'est pas tres brillant pour Martrain, qui est le team officiel Yamaha pour cette annee avec Dean Harrison. Eux le prenne comme un projet sur le long terme.

Les motos sont arrivees.

Ce sont la BM superstock et la Honda supersport engagées sous la bannière du MD Racing
Il manque encore la superbike, engagée par le team Buildbase de Stuart Hicken...

La vidéo commence aux environs du 13th Milestone,(la ou Santiago Herrero a eu son accident),puis traversée du village de Kirchmichael pour finir sur la bosse de Rhencullen.
Avec ces deux la,la reconnaissance de la topographie des lieux en prend un coup!

Bien vu crazytoon, c'était une boutade! Je ne vend pas de chemise, desolé pour ceux qui m'ont deja envoyé des commandes par MP.

J'ai eu l'occasion de croiser M.Dunlop a la North West 200, avec sa 600 et sa 1000 dans le camion, et il s'est montré trés agréable et j'ai beaucoup de respect pour lui, autant pour son attitude en piste que hors piste.

Peu de gens savent mieux que lui le prix du road racing. Son père s'est tué sur un serrage moteur moteur. C'est tout en son honneur de refuser de rouler sur une moto qu'il ne considère pas fiable.

C'est la que je vois un paradoxe, ça devait être sa 4ème équipe et moto différentes en autant d'année. Et l'argent n'est certainement pas étranger a ses transferts. C'est son métier.

M. Dunlop tout de suite dans le coup en ressortant la BMW superstock de l'annee derniere. Meilleur temps en superstock et ca le place en 4eme position au niveau des meilleurs chronos realises cette annee. Avec la superbike qui est arrivee, ca va etre dur de le suivre.

Honda’s John McGuinness says Michael Dunlop’s decision to ditch Yamaha for BMW at the Isle of Man TT was “the right one for him”.

Dunlop’s dramatic split from Shaun Muir’s Milwaukee Yamaha team halfway through practice week on Thursday dominated the lion’s share of the headlines, while Ian Hutchinson set the first 130mph Superbike lap of 2015 to top the timesheets on the PBM Kawasaki.

Ulsterman Dunlop, who took his TT tally to 11 wins last year with his second successive four-timer, dumped the all-new YZF-R1 in favour of a return to the BMW S1000RR machines on which he enjoyed so much success in 2014, clinching a treble in the Superbike, Superstock and Superstock races.





The 26-year-old will ride the Hawk Racing Buildbase BMW Superbike plus his own MD Racing Superstock S1000RR and a Honda CBR600RR.


Dunlop’s Superbike arrived on the Isle of Man on Thursday night but he missed out on the chance to ride the bike in practice, instead completing three laps on his Superstock machine and immediately throwing his hat into the ring with a sizzling lap of 129.659mph to clock the fourth fastest lap of practice so far.

McGuinness, who was second fastest on the Honda Racing Fireblade with a lap of 130.030mph as he finished 1.8 seconds behind Hutchinson, said: “I think it’s the right decision for Michael – at the TT you have to feel confident in yourself and you have to feel confident in the bike and everything around you and no disrespect to the Milwaukee team, but it wasn’t working for him.

“It was a brave decision to do it but it was the only option for him and I respect Michael for that and hopefully Yamaha can come back in the future; it looks like it needs a bit more development.

“Dean’s [Harrison] carrying on [with the R1] but Michael’s a winning machine and he wants to win, but he feels he can’t win [on the Yamaha] so it’s the right decision for him,” McGuinness told Manx radio.





Dunlop issued a statement saying he was “genuinely sorry” after pulling the plug on his brief association with Milwaukee Yamaha.

“I would like to thank Milwaukee Yamaha for their support in bringing me into their team and I am genuinely sorry to be making this decision,” he said.

“Unfortunately I don’t think there is enough time left with the sessions we’ve already lost at the TT to be truly competitive and get the bike to the level we need to in order to win races here.”

A statement issued by Milwaukee Yamaha said the team had ‘all the ingredients for success’ at the TT.





“Milwaukee Yamaha has today (Thursday), released Michael Dunlop from his contract with immediate effect.

“Despite having all the ingredients for TT success – rider, bike and team, Michael has taken the decision not to continue with the programme and for that reason we have released him from his contract.”

Hutchinson maintained his excellent form to head the times on the ZX-10R Superbike with a speed of 130.266mph from McGuinness, with Wednesday’s pacesetter Bruce Anstey improving to 129.957mph on the Valvoline Padgetts Honda.

Dunlop – clear at the top of the Superstock timesheets – was followed by Tyco BMW pair William Dunlop and Guy Martin, who lapped at 129.419mph and 128.963mph respectively.

Bradford’s Dean Harrison, who is spearheading the charge for Northern Ireland team Mar-Train Racing on the new YZF-R1, lapped at 127.120mph as he slotted into 12th place on the overall leaderboard.





Michael Rutter was seventh fastest on the Penz13.com Bathams BMW at 128.529mph ahead of Manxman Conor Cummins on the second of the official Honda machines (128.331mph).

Jamie Hamilton showed excellent pace on John Burrows’ Suzuki with a speed of 127.752mph to go ninth quickest, while the top ten was rounded out by Aussie David Johnson.

Hutchinson was second fastest in the Superstock class behind Dunlop with a speed of 128.308mph and was followed by Aussie David Johnson (127.470mph) and James Hillier on the Quattro Kawasaki at 127.127mph.

Anstey lapped at 127.045mph with Lee Johnston completing the top six at 126.759mph.

Gary Johnson was fastest in the Supersport class on the Mar-Train Yamaha at 124.307mph from Anstey (124.051mph) and William Dunlop on the CD/IC Racing Yamaha (123.708mph).

Vu ce qu'il a fait hier avec la superstock, ca va faire mal dimanche pour la course.

L'an dernier Timothée avait terminé 23 eme en course dans la catégorie (après une 18eme place aux essais ,de mémoire). Sacrée progression! Les tours accumulés au fil des ans ,pas de secret. Après sa 10eme place au Classic TT l'an dernier sur sa RC 30 ,on espère un super resultat pour Tim.
