very bad weekend. Q1 made a wrong gearing choice, Q2 was wet. R1 I used op all of the tyre (old tyre) by lap 8 and after a few small highsider I had to pull into the pits or I would have ended with a crash R2 my TPS sensor failed in lap 1...only worked on 100% throttle and that was not rideable... first time DNF and it came in 2. Better luck next time! |

| Sujet: HELP PLEASE Lun 4 Mai 2015 - 12:06 | |
| I have been working on the injection system for days now and still won't work. Please help if you can? The bike has the keihin "elektronic power throttle (EPT)" There is 1 TPS on the right hand side of the bike that is connected with the throttle grip. There is 1 TPS on the left side of the bike that is connected with the butterfly valve of the injection. BOTH have to be set in between 0.7 and 0.74 V via a long procedure. I do the procedure correctly and I get the values correct. They stay correct if I open and close the throttle 10x. Problem: every time I Start the bike or turn ignition on/off the value of the left TPS jumps back to +/- 0.66 [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]I have opened the throttle body and there is a little play on the gears that connect elektric motor and butterfly valve but if that would be the cause then I don't understand that it does stay ok if I don't start or turn ignition on/of. [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]If I can't fix this I can't ride the bike in the next race |

| Is the bike running well, even with this 0.66V ???
Try making the settings by pushing the throttle plate, so it is really in its 0 position.
What append if you make the setting at 0.74 or 0.75V? Will it return to 0.7 after starting?

Angelo No its not running well. That's the problem I did put the setting by pusching the throttle plate. first zero it by pushing it shut (0.5 --> 0.54 V) then release it and adjust with setting screw until it reaches 0.7 --> 0.74 V. Checked when pushed closed, still 0.5 --> 0.54 V then as the last step put other tps (throttle grip) on 0.7 --> 0.74 V. Evertrhing stays ok UNTIL you start, then the one from the butterfly valve jumps to 0.66 V if I then adjust it with the screw the other one goes to about 0.90 V and if I put that back to 0.72 V the one from the butterfly jumps back tot this 0.66 V...GRRR So I can keep doing that until the setscrew is completely in but it is no good...allways jumps back to 0.66 V |

| How do you made the cabling to these pots ? All these wires SHOULD come directly from the ECU. Groud should not be connected to any other point or any other component. Check the 5 volt quality going to the pots.

Angelo I'll check, but it has allways worked just fine until last race on croix... I'd actually like to throw of the elektronic valve but don't know if that's possible? |

| Does the ECU use the two TPS to position the butterfly wrt to the grip? Or is it just a safety check to make sure the ride-by-wire system is operating?
Of course you could make a drum and run a cable, but I'd guess you'd need to then replace the ECU with an ignitech or similar. In the long run, that might turn out to be a good solution. |

| This all sounds far too complicated to me. A drum and a cable ! whatever next. A carb? Like the works Dakar 690's. The self generating MX ignition we used at Croix got us on the front row. Not a computer in site. Just put fuel in crash, repair and go again. The clever stuff can be left to the keyboard warriors.

| Update: Found the problem by using the power of deduction...I did everything from checking sensors, flywheel position, switching throttle bodies to complete rebuilt of the wiring loom. What was the problem? --> a completely cloged injector... grrr before cleaning: [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]what came out: [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]after cleaning: [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]Bike seems to have a lot more power and is running great. Went to test on circuit zolder for the first time a few weeks ago and after 3 sessions I had the same problems. Cleaned the injector again and everything was ok again. So I'm going to put in a Golan prp mini filter right in front of the injector. As I'm writing this this is being made: [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]After ALL the pipes that I've made, a twin megaphone still was the best for power. So I'm going back to the twin megaphone setup Working on the moto2 bike this week, really need to finish that thing so we can get testing!! Have been working A LOT in the house and in the garden with a self made automatic gate etc... GRTZ MJ |

| Huh!!! Great that you found out where you issue is, but you'd better find where do this dirt come from, now! If you had dirt in you injection system after remounting it one day, it would have been solved after you cleaned it, but if he had his teeth full back after only three sessions, you really have another issue somewhere in injection system. Some dirt in the tank? Inside tank paint or protection covering melting or getting old?

I know, was thinking about the 3 year old explosafe or something. Wouldn't know what else. But fact of the matter is that is seems to clog the injector very fast now... |

| First and easier would be to empty your fuel tank and replace the explosafe after a big scrub, isn't it? Empting it should show dirt gasoline, already... Good luck |

| Normally, the filter in the fuel pump should stop any dirt in the tank: I've had a couple of "injector failures" that turned out to be due to reduced pump flow due to clogged filters, but nothing has gone through to the injector itself. Maybe KTM pumps have less efficient filters than Suzuki?
The stories of clogged injectors I've seen have usually been from the USA, where people run exotic race fuels that congeal into gum if left a few days. |
