| Hello again,
I recently read about ISF Isotropic Superfinish. My question is did someone allready use this method in his engine and could be king to share his experience with us? and What is his opinion about the efficiency/cost/performance/etc?
Thank you |

| I'am also curious. I had a contact with a society in Germany. He told me the best is to do that on new parts. But I've read that it worked also for example on used gearbox and that after that the shifting was superb. |

| [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]Click the link to the pdf article on the page. Have just had this done to my gearbox, but not had a chance to reassemble and test yet. Very Shiny! Common practice in F1 etc |

| looks interesting! may i ask how much you paid for superfinishing your gearbox?
I was looking for some DLC coating a while ago, but the setback is you need to polish all parts in order to coat them. sio this seems to be a good solution! |

| Yes, there are many companies that offer this service in US and Europe. For sure it will be better as will be less friction. But the main question is what is like to be the performance-power gains versus the cost etc. Did you or someone else did a test on the dyno before and after etc..

I was looking for some DLC coating a while ago, but the setback is you need to polish all parts in order to coat them. sio this seems to be a good solution! I got it done here in Australia (but there are plenty of places in Europe), cost was $200 (all gears, shafts, shift drum, forks etc). It makes parts less susceptible to crack propogation as well as reducing friction. I felt that was enough of a benefit for the cost, It's not going to add any power, just maybe cut down on driveline losses a little. I also got the suspension pivot pins done. The surfaces that were machined rough to begin with are still not perfect, but the ones that were smooth are now like a mirror.Something to keep in mind for your DLC treatment. |
