Probablement une cote du cylindre mais pas le diamètre car 54.08 x 54.08 x 3.14 / 4 x 54.5=125.12 cc soit au dessus de la cylindrée légale, à plus forte raison pour le cylindre marqué "18"
Je pense plutôt à une cote de dépassement piston pour le squich ou une valeur de joint d'embase ?

Mais Mike si on prend pour exemple le cylindre avec marqué +18 tu ne trouves pas que cela fait beaucoup? (presque 2/10 en plus qu'un cylindre standard de 125?)
Et pour les pistons il en existe de diamètres plus gros ou ces réalésages sont justes destinés a augmenter le jeu du piston dans le cylindre?

Cela ne pourrais pas être aussi une valeur sur l'ouverture des transferts ou bien leur
longueur? (arrêtez moi si je me trompe) mais des transferts plus ou moins long ne
changeraient pas le comportement de la machine ainsi que la plage de fonctionnement?

Je peux répondre à tes questions, puisque ce moteur était mon idée !

Quand je suis arrivé chez Derbi, j'ai passé au banc les moteurs existants, et le meilleur sortait 47,5 chevaux.
Comment Lorenzo faisait pour gagner parfois avec une puissance aussi faible reste un mystère !

J'ai donc lancé la conception et la réalisation du moteur Derbi RSA, fait pour battre Aprilia.
Au DRD, on a compris qu'on ne pourrait battre Aprilia avec un moteur à valves, d'où le choix d'un distributeur rotatif.
Mais avant qu'il soit terminé, Piaggio a racheté Derbi et fermé le service course Derbi, rapatriant tout chez Aprilia.
Les gens de chez Aprilia n'étaient pas contents de voir arriver ce moteur, parce qu'ils ne l'avaient pas conçu.

Du coup, j'ai pu passer au banc les moteurs RSW usine Aprilia, et les meilleurs sortaient 53 chevaux en 2004.

Je précise que je parle de puissance à l'arbre de sortie de boîte, et que les mesures dont je parle ont été faites sur la meme marque et le même modèle de banc.

Du fait de cette acquisition par Piaggio on a utilisé des cylindres Aprilia, par souci de simplification.
Après un essai avec une bielle de 115mm de long, on s'est fixé sur 120mm, et le cylindre fut surélevé de 5mm pour avoir plus de place pour le port entre le cylindre et le carter. La bielle n'est pas aussi lourde que les gens le pensent. Elle est faite dans un acier spécial très dur qui permet une taille très réduite. L'acier vient de France mais je n'en sais pas plus à ce sujet.

Ensuite, chez Aprilia, nous avons réalisé de nouveaux cylindres, meilleurs que les Aprilia que nous avions trouvés en arrivant.
C'est ce cylindre qui est toujours utilisé aujourd'hui sur les RSA, mais les RSW utilisent toujours les anciens cylindres Aprilia.

Le moteur RSA a craqué pour la première fois en Octobre 2004 et il sortait d'emblée 52 chevaux, avec le cylindre Aprilia.
Avec le cylindre amélioré, il sortait 54 chevaux.

Les carters sont en aluminium usinés dans la masse, en Allemagne.

La boîte est une ancienne boîte Derbi, conçue par Porsche je crois.
Une très bonne boîte, bien meilleure que la boîte Aprilia, elle permet des passages de vitesses plus rapides.

Le disque rotatif est entraîné par pignons coniques depuis l'arbre d'équilibrage

Le RSA termina sa première course 3 semaines après avoir craqué, piloté par Pablo Nieto.

Depuis j'ai vu que des fabricants de moteurs de Superkart copiaient les cylindres Aprilia, ce qui me fait plaisir, parce que quand les gens copient votre travail, ils reconnaissent que vous avez bien bossé.

Peux-tu évaluer l'écart de performance entre le moteur RSW et le moteur RSA ?

Jan Thiel : La différence de puissance entre RSW et RSA est principalement due à l'utilisation du nouveau cylindre seulement sur la RSA.
Elle a plus de puissance autour de 11.000 tr/mn.
Pas une différence énorme, mais le RSA est indiscutablement meilleur.

On ne peut pas en dire autant du châssis, qui est problématique.

Pit-Lane.biz : Johann Zarco a du mérite alors de placer sa RSW aussi haut, au milieu des RSA ?

Jan Thiel : Johan Zarco se débrouille vraiment très bien, je regarde toujours ses résultats.

Un classique du genre en effet...

Je crois me souvenir que la Gilera de Poggiali a soudainement semblé plafonner fin 2002 quand Bartol a signé pour développer la KTM125 l'année suivante et qu'Arnaud Vincent, le principal rival de Poggiali pour le titre, a lui aussi signé pour rejoindre KTM... avec le numéro 1 de champion du Monde. Et je crois me souvenir que le successeur de Bartol a trouvé un atelier bien vide à l'intersaison 2002-2003, devant repartir de quasi-zéro pour construire les motos 2003... qui ne marqueront que 11 points sur toute la saison 2003 Sad

Au fait, quand on parle de 50 à 55cv, et même si je me doute que les chiffres exacts sont jalousement cachés, à combien peut-on estimer la puissance des meilleurs 125 du plateau (au hasard, celle de Marquez? mais pas seulement?).
Je me souviens que Mike Lougassi m'a dit que sa propre machine qui a plus de 10 ans maintenant (une ex-Locatelli si j'ai bien compris) vaut dans les 53cv quand tout va bien...
Sauf que même en faisant le régime sévère, il rend au moins 20kg à certains petits jeunes qui ont aussi plus de 20 ans de moins que lui, ce qui n'empêche pas Mike de les enfumer à l'occasion (voir sa 2ème place au Mans!)

Hello everybody,
Please forgive me for writing in english. I can read french, but writing is a different matter... I hope you don't mind. And if one of you would be kind enough to add a french translation, it would make me very happy.
My name is Frits Overmars. I registered on Pit-Lane because Jan Thiel drew my attention to the Rumi-topic. Jan and I have been friends for over 30 years and we worked together on the Rumi 125GP project in 1992 and 1993.
Until Jan retired from Aprilia, I performed thermodynamic and gasdynamic calculations for him, and I also tried to think along with him about various two-stroke developments.

I am glad to have gained access to your forum; I already read a considerable number of threads (and I love the way Eric Offenstadt proves that, although he is a veteran, he still has a rebellious young mind 8) ).

This morning Jan discussed the engine power of Lorenzo's reed-valve Derbi 125, the DRVE (Derbi Rear Valve Engine) that later became known as the Aprilia RSA, and the Aprilia RSW.
I think it would be good to illustrate Jan's story with a power graph of these three engines, so here it is.
I also include some unpublished CT-scans of the RSA cylinder, type APF 2010. They show the exhaust and transfer ducts and the cooling ducts.
