Mon nom est donc Frits Overmars. Je me suis enregistre sur Pit-Lane puisque Jan Thiel m'a écrit quelques mots concernant le topic Rumi. Jan et moi sommes amis depuis plus de 30 ans et nous avons travaillés ensemble sur le projet Rumi 125GP en 1992 et 1993.
Jusqu'à ce que Jan se retire d'Aprilia, je travaillais sur la thermodynamique et mes calculs de flux gazeux pour lui , et nous avons aussi travaillé sur d'autres projets/voies de développement du deux temps .
Je suis content d'avoir accès à votre forum ; j'ai déjà lu un nombre important de topics (et j'adore la manière qu' Eric Offenstadt a de prouver que , malgrés son age qui pourrait le classer dans les "vétérans " il pense toujours comme un jeune rebel 8) ).

Ce matin Jan évoquait le moteur de Derby à clapets de Lorenzo , ainsi que me DRVE (Derbi Rear Valve Engine) qui plus tard furent appelés l'Aprilia RSA, et l'Aprilia RSW.
j'ai pensé qu'i serait bon d'illustrer les propos de Jan avec quelques graphiques de passage au banc de ces trois moteur , voici donc chose faite .
J'inclus aussi des CT-scans non publiés du cylindre RSA cylinder, type APF 2010. Ils montrent les transferts ; l'échappement et le circuit de refroidissement .

However, I am a bit confused :
The Derbi Reed Valve Engine is the one ridden by Lorenzo and which output is 47.6BHP as explained to me by Jan and as shown in the graph you posted.

I believe it's by mistake that you mentioned this engine as having become Aprilia RSA.
As far as I understand, the Jan Thiel-designed Derbi engine was not a valve engine.

If I missed something, please let me know.

Hello Jarno,

I wrote about three different engines:
Lorenzo's reed-valve Derbi 125 (this is the first one), the DRVE (Derbi Rear Valve Engine) that later became known as the Aprilia RSA (this is the second one), and the Aprilia RSW.
To avoid confusion, you can also imagine that DRVE stands for Derbi Rotary Valve Engine.
Rear Valve was used to distinguish it from the side-mounted rotary valve of the Aprilia RSW.

Bon comme vous l'aurez compris, j'avais lu trop vite et confondu "rear valve" avec "reed valve"... Embarassed

Il y avait donc bien :
- le moteur Derbi à clapets d'avant Jan Thiel, sortant au mieux 47,6 chevaux,
- le moteur Derbi de Jan Thiel, à disque rotatif placé à l'arrière du cylindre, appelé initialement DRVE (Derbi Rear Valve Engine) puis rebaptisé RSA une fois le service course Derbi dissous par Piaggio et fusionné avec le service course Aprilia,
- le moteur Aprilia à disque rotatif latéral, dénommé RSW, fer de lance Aprilia mais rapidement éclipsé par le RSA au grand dam des ingénieurs Apriia...

Je trouve le graphe très intéressant parce qu'il souligne que l'avantage du RSA de Jan Thiel-Derbi sur le RSW d'Aprilia n'est pas tant la puissance maxi (54 contre 53,9) mais la courbe, nettement plus remplie sur le RSA entre 10000 et 12000 tours, d'où certainement un gain conséquent en sortie de virage.

La grosse différence entre les courbes RSW et RSA est également entre 11600 et 14500 t/mn. Si l'on compare la surface comprise entre les deux courbes on s'aperçoit que la RSA est nettement plus efficace autour de la puissance maxi sans compter "l'allonge" du moteur qui est plus importante même après 14000, d'où une meilleure vitesse de pointe. En contrepartie, probablement un moteur un peu plus difficile à exploiter, ce qui expliquerait les difficultés d'adaptations de certains pilotes.

c'est pas le moteur francis , il a plus de couple et une plage plus large , forcément " plus facile " , sur les RSA , le truc qui fache semble être le chassis Wink ( peut être des réglages moteurs plus pointus aussi mais bien règlé , il est plus facile , c'est certain )

Ce n'est pas si simple que cela, l'exploitation d'un moteur avec plus d'allonge est à la fois plus facile et plus difficile.
Plus facile, parce qu'il permet d'éviter de changer de rapport dans certaines portions du circuit, entre deux virages par exemple.
Plus difficile, car le pilote doit utiliser le moteur à plus hauts régimes PARTOUT y compris en virages!
Le progrès majeur que nous avons fait sur nos moteurs cette année, c'est justement l'augmentation de l'allonge ce qui déplace la fin de la courbe vers la droite
Le rendement global est meilleur, mais en revanche il faut plus "cravacher" le moteur pour en profiter pleinement.
Plus d'allonge, permet de tirer plus court ce qui favorise beaucoup les accélérations et un peu la vitesse de pointe.

tout à fait Francis , tirer plus dedans pour aller plus vite , mais avec plus de couple , déjà si tu tires pareil ca va forcement aussi vite ( il ne faut effectivement pas essayer de profiter du bas régime qui est un piège )

J'ai cru comprendre que ce n'est pas tant le fait d'avoir le disque derrière mais sur les cylindre qu'il on trouver des chevaux et peut être l'échappement qui doit être avec des cotes différents !
