Graeme Gowland will return to the British Supersport Championship in 2013 after signing for the Seton Tuning Yamaha team.

Gowland contested the final two rounds of last season for the Colchester-based outfit and was instantly on the pace, scoring a fourth position in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch. Despite only riding in four races, he was the highest point-scoring Yamaha rider over the closing two rounds.

Gowland said: "I am really happy and looking forward to 2013 with the Seton Tuning team in what's going to be an awesome year of Supersport racing! I had two great rounds with Phil and the team at the end of this year where they impressed me with how hard working and passionate they were for our sport. I really enjoyed my racing again so when Phil asked me the question it was a very easy decision for me. I am so pleased to be back in supersport and I can't wait to get started."

The team have also re-signed Australian Mark 'Wilco' Wilkinson to contest the National Superstock Championship for a second season onboard the Seton Tuning Yamaha YZF-R6.

Team Principal Phil Seton concluded: "Graeme is one of the most prestigious talents within British motorcycle racing and it is an honour to have him sign for us for next year. Graeme will be a massive attribute to the Seton Tuning Yamaha family. Excited doesn't even begin to explain how I'm feeling about the prospect of next season. With both Graeme and Mark confirmed on our bikes, we're expecting a plethora of fantastic results throughout the season."

Le finlandais Pauli Pekkanen chez WKBikes Hel Performance Suzuki en supersport

WKBikes Hel Performance Suzuki have confirmed their place on the growing 2013 British Supersport Championship grid, signing 'flying fin' Pauli Pekkanen in their quest to build on the top ten finishes they scored this season.

The team ended the season on a high with a pair of ninth place finishes and are eager to build on their form with Pekkanen who was a podium finisher in the Championship this season.

Pekkanen said: "I'm very happy and I'm excited to be back in the British Supersport Championship again. I started to talk to Dave at Brands Hatch and a couple weeks later I had chance to test their Suzuki for the first time. The bike felt good straight away and as Suzuki is a proven race winner I'm very confident that we will have a good year in 2013. I would like to thank Dave for giving me this chance and also big thanks to my personal sponsors who makes this possible."

Team Manager Dave Tyson added: "After a successful end to the season we wanted to continue our development of the Suzuki and with Pauli we are confident that we can break in to the top six. We want to be running at the front with the Suzuki. We would like to thank our sponsors for 2013, wkbikes, helperformance, jetprime, piperscross, sportbikeshop and Rizoma."

Splitlath Redmond Aprilia are ready to hit the ground running when the 2013 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship gets underway next April after today (Friday) confirming that Australian Mark Aitchison and Czech Jakub Smrz will remain with the team for next season.

The team are eager to build on their 2012 programme as they continue the development of the Aprilia RSV-4s with Aitchison and Smrz, who both made their championship debut this year. Former World Superbike contender Smrz secured the team's best results including a maiden front row qualifying position at Assen and a twelfth place at Silverstone. Aitchison's early progress was hampered by a hand injury, but he is aiming high for his return to the team co-owned by former Olympic athlete Derek Redmond and John Dimbylow.

Aitchison said: "This is the first time I have returned with a team and that is great news for me and shows that I am in a really settled place right now. I know the team and how they operate so we can have a productive winter and be ready to get started as soon as the season starts. We are all feeling really optimistic about next year and with the development we have planned we should be able to make baby steps in the beginning and then really build it up during the season. I am happy to be team-mates with Kuba again and between us we know we can work hard to put the Splitlath Redmond Aprilia where it should be and we need to be aiming for the top three. There is a great atmosphere in the team and we will keep having fun whilst getting the job done in 2013."

Smrz said: "I am happy to be back in BSB next season. It was great to be there for the final rounds this year and I enjoyed it a lot with the Splitlath Redmond Aprilia team. It wasn't easy to come in for the final rounds as the other riders had been on track all season and we were starting new. We spent time working to make the bike better at those last events, but now looking at next year I am pretty confident about the tracks I know and I will learn the others. My team is working hard on the bike already and we will be making a big step up next year. I am ready to do my best and I want to stay on top! I am sure we will be moving forward and I can't wait to ride again and be more competitive."

Bournemouth Kawasaki has strengthened their line up for the 2013 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship with a mix of the old warrior and the young gun as Chris 'Stalker' Walker is joined by Danny Buchan in the race-winning team, combining youth and experience.

The team scored an emotional maiden victory at Oulton Park last season as Walker secured his first race win in a decade to a rapturous reception. The fans' favourite was in contention for a position in the Showdown until a crash at Knockhill left him with broken heels but he fought back to claim top ten finishes on his return from injury later in the season.

19-year-old Buchan joins the team after making his debut in the Championship this season and he instantly impressed with a strong fourth place finish at only his second event. The former title contender in the National Superstock 1000 Championship is now relishing the challenge of his first full campaign in the Superbike class.

Walker said: "I love racing in BSB and I am absolutely chuffed to be back on the grid in 2013 with Kawasaki. The numbers tell the story; Kawasaki won the BSB and both Superstock titles which is a massive achievement and I feel that we can only continue to move forward. Last year was the team's first season in BSB and we won a race, which was an amazing feat. I think if it hadn't been for the crash at Knockhill we would have been in with a shot of the Showdown so that bodes well for 2013. It is great to be team-mates with Danny as I think we will be able to push each other all season and to have someone young and talented like him in the garage means I can pass on some of my experience as I was fortunate enough to have that at the start of my career. It will be the youngest versus oldest, tallest versus smallest in our garage but I can't wait as it should be a great season!"

Buchan said: "I am so happy to be back riding a Kawasaki, especially to be in BSB full time as that has always been one of my goals. It will be my first full season in the championship but I think working with the Bournemouth Kawasaki team and Chris will help me make progress all the time. I wasn't very lucky last season but I think we can turn things around next year and we know that the Kawasaki is capable of winning races so we need to get ready and come out with a big boom at Brands Hatch!"

Team owner Pete Extance concluded: "2013 is a very exciting year for Bournemouth Kawasaki having secured the title of the official Kawasaki UK BSB team and it is now down to us to put together a complete package and team worthy of the title. We have entrusted Chris Walker, who this year gave me 110 % every time he rode the motorcycle, and we felt unlucky not to make the Showdown. He is a true professional and will be a great asset especially to Danny Buchan, who despite his young age has already shown great potential on a Superbike. We feel that it won't be long before he is knocking on the door of podium finishes. I also want to thank all of our sponsors and look forward to working with them again in 2013."

Avec le retour d' Ellison , cela fait un concurrent sérieux de plus pour le titre , et il sera intéressant de voir l'adaptation de Waters.Concernant Bucahn , il m'avait impréssionner durant la manche 1 de cadwell park. Je vais suivre également avec grand intérêt la saison de William en Supersport , il disposera cette année comme son frangin d'une machine qui devrait leur permettre de s’exprimer pleinement.

Samsung Honda have today (Monday) announced the dramatic return of Ryuichi Kiyonari, the most successful rider in the series' history, alongside young gun Alex Lowes as they target the 2013 MCE Insurance British Superbike title.

Kiyonari has already achieved three titles with the Louth-based team, winning the coveted crown in 2006 and 2007 and 2010. The Japanese ace has scored more wins than anyone else in the championship, but his record of 43 is only marginally ahead of reigning champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, who is now just two adrift of equalling the feat. Kiyonari added an Asia Road Racing Championship title to his achievements in 2012 and returns to the UK totally focused on maintaining his position as the most successful rider in BSB history.

Lincoln's Alex Lowes joins the Samsung Honda team following a breakthrough 2012 campaign, which saw him celebrate his first race win after making the cut for the title Showdown. Lowes' superb performances over the final three rounds saw him leap ahead of his title rivals and end the season as the highest-placed Honda rider in the overall standings in fourth.

Samsung Honda has also confirmed its return to the fiercely-contested British Supersport Championship, with Australian Jason O'Halloran re-signing for a third season after finishing runner-up in the 2012 National Superstock class. The team are determined to add to their tally of three British Supersport title wins as they return to the class for the first time since lifting the crown in 2009.

Kiyonari said: "I am very, very happy to be back because I have missed BSB so much. I want to be better than before. I miss the championship: the races, the fans, the team - all of it and that is why I have returned. I know that next season is very important for me and I need to get results and wins because I don't want it to be like last time (2011). I want to be challenging again like when I won the title before. I have to give more than one hundred percent and I want a fourth title to show that I can do it again. I want to show what I can still do; I want to win more titles. My aim is for more wins and be champion again. I don't know if I will be a target, I think the riders will want to beat Shakey. I don't care about looking at other riders, because I just want to win and that is what I will focus on."

Lowes said: "It is obviously a great opportunity for me to join Samsung Honda and I am ready to give it everything. I had a great season on the Honda last year and I think my style suits the Fireblade and I feel comfortable pushing it. The team have a lot of experience and we want to win the championship; they are a strong team and I think we are in a really good position to try and win that back. This is my best chance now that I have had a couple of seasons in BSB, now I just need to come out and be consistent from the start. I want to pick up where I left off last year and then we should be in a position ready for the end of the season and the Showdown. I want to be winning more races next year as I definitely think I am in a position now to be going for the title."

O'Halloran said: "It is an interesting direction to move into British Supersport for me but I have experience in that class - winning the Australian Supersport Championship in 2007 was a highlight of my career. I am excited to get on the new 2013 CBR600RR and it is the ideal time to make a statement in the championship with a new bike, which I am sure I can make."

Team Manager Havier Beltran said: "We are very happy to announce what we think is a supremely strong rider line-up in both Superbike and Supersport. With Kiyo returning we know we have a rider who is a proven winner and we hope to get the best out of him once again. Alex Lowes is a young, exciting rider on so many levels and has great potential to become one of the greats. Jason is the ideal rider to spearhead the Supersport programme, a championship we last competed in, and won in 2009, and want to win again! We have a hunger for more silverware and are confident we have the right people in place in the team to make this happen."

Une bonne nouvelle, ce retour du Japonais, qui visera une quatrième couronne dans ce championnat tout comme ce qui va sans doute être un de ses adversaires, Shakey Byrne.
Outre l'enjeu d'un quatrième sacre pour les deux, il y aura également un enjeu pour le nombre de victoires. En effet, Ryuichi Kiyonari a 43 succès contre 41 pour Shane Byrne.
De quoi espérer une bonne émulation entre les deux !

Mais il ne faudra pas oublier Josh Brookes sur sa Suzuki certes vieillissantes mais qui est encore dans le coup, et aussi le coéquipier de Kiyonari, Alex Lowes, qui s'est vraiment révélé cette saison avec comme principal fait d'armes sont doublé lors de la manche de Silverstone.
Ainsi que l'équipe Milauwkee Yamaha avec James Ellison, Josh Waters, dont il va falloir surveiller son adaptation au BSB.

Bref, ce championnat d'Angleterre s'annonce encore passionnant même si on peut regretter l'absence de Tommy Hill !

Edit : Linfoot de retour en BSB la saison prochaine au sein du team GBMoto Honda

Dan Linfoot will return to the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship grid next season after signing for the GBmoto Honda team to complete their line-up alongside Peter Hickman.

Linfoot is back in the Championship following a stint in the World Supersport Championship during the second half of last season which included a podium finish at the final round of the season at Magny Cours. Linfoot is now aiming for his first rostrum in the British Championship and is relishing the chance to return onboard the Honda as the GBmoto team prepare to build on their 2012 debut campaign.

Linfoot said: "I'm over the moon to reach this agreement with GBmoto and to be back competing in BSB. I've had a very scattered past few seasons and feel I can make a 'home' with this team. Mark (Smith-Halvorsen) is very driven to succeed in BSB and of course I hope to fit the bill and reach targets that we set. BSB is an ultra competitive series, which is continually being proven as the place to be, so I'm very pleased to be onboard with GBmoto. It is great to be riding alongside Peter (Hickman) and working with Matt Llewellyn as my crew chief. A huge thanks to Mark and his group of backers for putting their belief in me and I'm really looking forward to 2013."

Team manager Terry Liquorish concluded: "I am delighted to welcome both Dan to the team. Dan is one of the best riders in the UK and, despite his relatively young age, he has a wealth of experience that's been gained at the highest levels of motorcycle racing. There is no doubt that he is capable of challenging for top honours in the MCE British Superbike championship. The addition of Matt Llewellyn as crew chief for Dan is also another indication of our commitment to build the team's strength and capabilities, right across the board, and offer a solid return for our sponsors and other partners. BSB needs a further 14 riders to make this picture at Easter next year

So far, next year's British Superbike grid has 18 confirmed riders split between ten teams, which leaves 14 spaces left to fill on the grid for 2013.

Most notable by their absence at the moment are Nick Morgan's MSS Kawasaki team, Padgett's and Supersonic Racing, plus riders Tommy Bridewell, Michael Rutter and Gary Mason.

Rutter is rumoured to have sorted out a Honda that will have his Bathams livery down the side and may be run by the SMT team while Mason has also been linked with a Honda squad, so they could be one and the same.

The planned MV Agusta entry has now apparently boiled itself down to single-bike National Superstock 1000 and 600 entries while Bridewell, who was telling anyone who would listen at Motorcycle Live that he was sorted for next year. Apparently, he and Supersonic team boss Danilo Soncini have been spotted lurking outside the MV factory gates in recent weeks.

Morgan isn't one to rush into things but the MSS boss has been very quiet since season end, only popping up to confirm his team's support of Dean Harrison on the roads.

Ian Lowry has said he will not be racing in 2013 as he is far too busy practing the art of driving a powerful Audi while not being able to actually see over the steering wheel.

Jenny Tinmouth is adamant she will be back in her one-rider team next year. Barry Burrell also seems to have been left out of the mix for BSB despite a strong end to the year. Moto Rapido Ducati have made noises about coming back with one bike but not even a sniff of a whisper of who might be on that.

Interdiction des tests hivernaux a l'étranger pour les teams du BSB

British Superbike teams will be subject to a foreign testing ban from the New Year, meaning the usual forays into Spain and southern France will not take place.

As of January 1, no contracted MCE-BSB team can test abroad which means everyone must use UK tracks in the run up to the season opener in April at Brands Hatch, but the ban has been imposed in conjunction with all teams involved, says series director Stuart Higgs.

Teams will also be restricted to a maximum of 12 days testing for the whole of the 2013 season but BSB have already put together four official test days at Donington, Brands Hatch and two days Snetterton.

"As far back as one of our regular teams meetings at Oulton Park in July, we've been discussing a policy for testing as BSB class teams have rightly identified that it is an area of considerable expense with varying returns and the Spanish tracks have little, if any points of reference with actual championship venues," said Higgs, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.

"Previously teams have done their own thing, usually in Spain, and various attempts to coordinate it haven't been that successful or cost effective. Also, the supposed one guarantee, the weather seems to have changed with recent Spanish tests curtailed by snow or other conditions and not a great deal of general difference with UK conditions, certainly our recent pre- season UK tests have had no significant weather issues.

"We are now in a period of rules stability, other than annually some evolvement with tyre development - on this point most agree that it's pretty pointless evaluating new things anywhere other than places we will actually race at.

There is also another very serious point, in that some of these European tests often get referred to as official BSB tests, however their general organisation and operation is about as far removed from a BSB organisation standard as you could get with minimal marshal and medical cover.

"This was highlighted with a very serious situation which occurred a couple of years go when Ed Rendell crashed whilst testing a 600cc Kawasaki in Spain. I was very distressed at the standard of immediate care he received after sustaining a broken pelvis, and it was a race against time to get him medically evacuated back to the UK.

"This was at a test that was nothing to do with BSB, yet we quickly got together with the team and family and helped source medical repatriation specialists. It was an extremely worrying time.

"We've been in dialogue with the BSB teams since July working up various options and we have now, together arrived at a policy for implementation."
