| Bonjour les amis! Excusez-les s'il vous plaît anglais I have a question for the designers among you: What would be the typical forces acting on a swing arm? I an going to run some simulations on the design, and I wish to know how much force to be applied. Force A = ? Force B = ? Forces xx = ? Many thanks in advance! | Hello Nick,
I would prefer to have the greatest look on stiffness by adding the wheelforce orthogonal to B (Force @ maximum bump of the dampers with given spring stiffness). Then you can see te tensions due to acting on straights with bumps.
After reducing the stresses by normal conditions you can have a look on A and B. But I don't have any guesses what amount of force will act there @ critical conditions like wobble.
In your pictures I miss some parts like the rear axle with all the sleeves and inner bearing sleeves. The same with the swingarm pivot and the damper bosses. It would be nice to have some pics of your border conditions within the FEA analysis.
regards

| Thank you for your reply SMU! I have purposely left the connection details out of this picture, trying to give away as little intellectual property as needed, however they will of course be applied in the simulation. As it happened we ran the bike at a race meeting this weekend and the Ohlins technician set the bike up. I will get his data. We won all three races. To be continued..... Hello Nick, that sounds great and it would be nice if you share the data with us - you lucky winner! The picture of your bike and you are looking perfect, but how does it look from behind (with the swingarm) SMU |
